Phase 3: Skills Development

Focus on Skills Development and Job Training Programme

AGES:

Ages 16 – 21 years

LEARNING PROGRAMME:

Learning Programme 70% Practical and 30% Theory

Learning programme and Curriculum based on D-CAPS (Differentiated CAPS School Programme)

Subjects: Language, Mathematics, Life Skills Including Physical Education, Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Electives and Skills Subjects (Arts and Crafts, Consumer Studies Food Production, Consumer Studies Needlework, Maintenance, Woodwork and Timber, Gardening and Carwash) and World of Work.

Production as part of Learning Programme for Market Days (Annual Mother’s Day Market, Fathers Market and Christmas Market) – learner participate in making the most beautiful handmade products based on current trends in the market.

INTERNAL JOB TRAINING PROGRAMME PRESENTED AT SCHOOL:

Preparing Learners for External Job Training (Areas Kitchen, Pantry, Office, Class Assistant, Gardening and Carwash)

EXTERNAL JOB TRAINING PROGRAMME PRESENTED IN THE OPEN LABOUR MARKET:

Preparing learners with skills to cope in the open labour market and to cope in the world of work.

Local Businesses that are involved are: Carletonville Community (Areas: Fuel Stations, Carwash, Pre-Primary Schools, Social Services Office work, SENWES, SAPS and Local Restaurants)

Learnership Programme @ Uranda Sewing Collage – School Exit learners who qualify

GALA EVENT:

At the end of a learner’s school programme all Exit Learners are invited to an exclusive Gala Farewell Event

Where they receive the following:

CURRICULUM VITAE:

All exit learners receive a file with updated CV’s, updated with Job Training Experience and references with Original Copies, a Home Language Bible, framed Photo and School Certificate completing the School Programme

EXIT LEARNERS:

Learners exiting the school system and completing their school programme are supported and encouraged to apply for a job in the open labour market.

The school system support learners and families with the process.

Learners that do not qualify for the open labour Market are supported to apply for admission at a local Protective Workshop Rotalia Centre
